Jan Pasveer (Coevorden, 10-2-1933 – Zaandam, 15-1- 2005) was appointed principal of the Zaandam Municipal School of Music in 1962, a position he would hold for over 30 years. At the same time, he was a lecturer in choral conducting at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam and held a weekly talk about music on national radio. As a musical director, Pasveer conducted many first performances of contemporary composers, while his heart was in church music, especially the works of J.S. Bach. Jan Pasveer left us some very fine compositions. A competition in classical music was named after him, the Jan Pasveer Concours.
Jaap Zijlstra schreef in 1965 een tekst bij de muziek van de opname.
